Re: Gosh Darn Excited!
Remember to check the oil and water before you start, check again before you drive on the motorway or after an hours driving and carry a spare container of water and a gallon of oil in the boot. Hopefully you will not need either

Re: Gosh Darn Excited!

Re: Gosh Darn Excited!
Insurance kicked in at 6am & I made sure it had breakdown recovery with it, I have my coolant, engine/gearbox oil, break fluid, map, petrol can, and list of things to check before I set off!
Oh, and my co-pilot (aka Mum).
And jelly babies
I'm getting annoyed that Mum is messing around having a bath. I WANT TO GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *whines*

Enjoy Katie - I know how exactly you're feeling as we picked ours up last Sunday - first Minor (if not first classic) in 15 years.

Re: Gosh Darn Excited!
Been called worse
Anyway....
On Thursday, I went with my Mama to pick up Martha.
Much stalling round the back streets of Leicester, and I felt confident enough to set off on the 55.8 mile journey back to Halesowen.
Unfortunately, we got trapped in Leicester, and it took us 2 hours to actually find a way out.
In the wrong direction.
We stopped at a service station for a cheese sandwich, and a consult of the Navigation Lady on my mobile phone (who we decided against using due to the fact we couldn't tell a word she was saying), and found the way to where we should have been.
An hour later we were at Tamworth services, with a stink of petrol. I looked under the bonnet & found that the fuel pipe was perished so badly, it was split all along the bottom, and piddling petrol worryingly close to the ignition. However, a lovely young man came to the rescue with a roll of tape, and managed to fix it so we could at least get back home.
It took us, in all, from picking her up, 8 hours to get back home, mainly because we had no idea where we were meant to be going (seriously, could the government perhaps consider signposts as part of their budget???!!!).
I still have an aching bum cheek from driving, but I am desperate to drive her again, and making up excuses to go everywhere in the car!
Oh, and yesterday, as she had done so well getting us home, I did treat her to a brand new (legal) fuel pipe.
She is so much fun to drive!! I am head over heels in love!
