Do you have music while you drive and work on your car?

Yes, my mog has a period radio! But working with music? Nah.

Music in the car is on my list of things to do. One day, after all the other things have been done...I listen to music sometimes in the garage.

Stereo, 4 speakers and 12 CD multichanger for ours. Although being a convertable, you need often find that the car noise drowns most CDs out!

There was an in-car record deck, I remember seeing it at a classic car show a loooong time ago.

I believe you were only meant to use it while stationary though :-)


As it is, modifiying a record deck to be driven off a 12 volt motor with a voltage stabilier shouldn't be *too* hard, then you just need a 12V powered phono-amplifier stage prior to connecting it to your in car amplifier. Shouldn't be too hard....although it would be somewhat on the pointless side imho.

Despite this, it's quite tempting and may have to go on the list of things to (eventually) do.

Philips used to make an in-car record player - only played 45s... I think you could use it on the move, but it wouldn't be a terribly bright idea... :lol:

I found a picture of it, incidentally - it was a slot-in player, like modern CD systems. You never know, one might appear on eBay... unlikely I know, but if anyone was interested... ;)

My Pink Triangle turntable operates on 16V, 500mA DC already, should only need a very small resistor to drop it to 12/13V. Now out with the tools to make a shock resistant gimbal support to fit in my car!

You cant use that sort of Quality Item in a Moggie as
the tools to make a shock resistant gimbal support
Would need to be better than the suspension.

Thanks to my recent innovation (see Useful Tips) I now have CD, MP3, Radio and Cassette in Minerva! The only problem is that the roads I take to work are a little bumpy even for a 2 minute antishock system :(
