Morris Minor Owners Club

I have seen a convertible for sale and it has been made from an ordinary saloon.
Any ideas as to the reliability of jobs like these please.
I had a minor as my first car and have a yearning to get one but have little ability to fix/repair etc as I have some health issues.

Why don't you have it professionaly inspected by a knowldgeable minor specialist so that you can be certain the conversion has been done correctly. Plenty of saloons have been converted to convertibles. If done properly and the shell is strengthed there should be no isuues. Post up your location as a nearby club mmember might be able to help you inspect the car?

Has the seller got receipts for the conversion?

If in any doubt though walk away as there are plenty of cars for sale on this site or at minor specialists.

Well if I was in the market for another Convertible I would certainly go and inspect this. The owner seems to have been very fair in his description, but it's you who are purchasing. A good "converted" saloon can be just as good as an original convertible. Mine started life as a 2 dr a lot of them around.

I would get a converted one over an original simply because it is a cheaper option for what is pretty much the same. Provided the job is done properly of course!
