WHEELER DEALERS

Post by neil4030 »

This information may be elseware on the forum but if it is; I can't see it. Mike Brewer and Edd China are 'restoring' a traveller on next weeks show: Discovery channel next Tuesday at nine. Bought for £2400 with a view to selling it for £7000.

This would be the almond green one that was for sale on eBay a couple of weeks ago as a car for sale ad at £8,500p. The ad was ended so I assume that it was , as they say, "no longer for sale", ie; sold. Maybe purchased by a member of the MMOC? Or maybe someone who will become a member?

I enjoy the program but not sure a traveller can be restored from such a poor state to 7k plus level in so short a time with a small spend! It will be interesting to see what they didn't do....

Well, bmc, are you going to enlighten the uninitiated amongst us? Or would you then risk legal action?

I like the program (and Mike Brewer is a supporter of our Armed Services men and women, so he can't be that bad ....!) That said, you do have to treat "Wheeler Dealers" as an entertainment program rather than a "how to do it master class - but I have picked up a few tips from Mr China !

Me too and there are 'times of struggle' when I wish Edd was in my garage with a few hours to spare.

I seriously doubt that 'most of the work is done by Brewer and China' - Brewer never gets his hands dirty....and China could never get it all done by himself - although I do believe he does at least 'some' of the work.

It's Paul Brackley - the technical advisor - and Ed's friend who he calls for help who does most of the work I reckon

I like the programme, but I take it as entertainment, a lot of the time I think I think they have cut corners, or that is cheap as they heve not added in labour costs, I know someone who brought one of the cars featured and yes, bits have fell off since he has owned it.
I just watch, take it at face value and maybe learn a tip or two.

Totally agree. I don't quite get the bitter undertones posted by some on here. To my mind, if it promotes the classic car scene as a whole, encourages people to go an buy one and have a go at repairs themselves then fair enough.
My young sons love it for the entertainment value and if it encourages them to become future classic car owners then thats fine by me.
Those that don't like it have an "off" switch just like the rest of us.

But did they really sell it??? we all know it was on e-bay until the middle of last week and they had to film the sale bit way before that I reckon!!! On a positive note they did acknowledge the number of hours needed to do the full job as the programme made it look like you could do it in a week!! Still, another Traveller saved. Would love to have a closer look at what they did/didn't do :-)
