A little bit of history

Post by moggiethouable »

The missus and I took on a new project by moving to an old house in need of renovation.
I pulled out an aged fitted wardrobe that had an equally aged mirror fitted, the backing is, as often was in those days, an old newspaper.
An auto dealer is advertising the latest and best
Sadly the prices are gone, how times have changed though.
Not a euro box in sight..........sigh.

Hi,
I notice a pound sign and a four against the top line, in the hundreds not thousands back then though.....
If only they were today's prices.............
Best wishes,
Mike.

You sure it's in the hundreds, Mike? My first minor (1957 saloon) cost me £40 in 1970. Although it was hardly in dealer showroom condition, and the price you mention is against a brand new van.........

£40 for a 1957 Saloon................... if only THAT was todays prices!! :P

But I take your point, I didn't take into consideration the possibility that they would be second hand cars, silly me!
Considering the varied contents of the list I should have spotted it!!

Does a date survive at the top of this clipping?

No date available, I would guess at 1956/57
Frost Brothers Garage is the advertiser, presumably from up here in the North East, but no longer here now I suspect.
