CNC machined dashboards, Ill make them if there is interest
Not a commercial thing as yet, Im making my own dashboard centre bling on my CNC miller and thought you might like to see the first stab at the cad model. I will probably add a little upswept area where the hole for the clock meets the horizontal to make it exactly follow the steelwork of the dash. This is just something I bashed out in 5 minutes this evening.
Obviously I can make these from plastic or wood. I have plastic sheets available that have a different colour inside like a sandwhich so the design and text is very striking in lots of colours. If I can program it from your design, you can have anything you want.
examples of colours Green with black, red with white, blue with red and so on.............or high quality light birch ply that looks great when treated. They will be 3mm thick and adhere with strong double sided tape.
If there is interest ill come up with a price.

Mmmmmm................... different, though I would prefer Tom & Jerry to Betty Boo
I think some will like the idea of a (plain) wood dash centre panel, which they could then stain and varnish to suit, I love a bit of burr walnut myself.
It could be a nice alternative in later Travellers to the machined metal centre panel, done to match their timber??
Best wishes,
Mike.

You have done a great job there and I admire your work.
But, I am not surprised by the above comments, as I think you will find this kind of accessory is not what many owners are after. For me personally, I don't think that the dashboard needs any cosmetic improvement (or alteration) and the original look is very much part of the appeal of owning a Morris Minor.

Thanks chaps, All good feedback. I guess the order book will be pretty thin then
I totally dig why folks would not be taken with my idea. Its not for everyone .
I will make one for my own from almond green plastic with white centre featuring Betty Boo and a spectacularly tasteful wooden one so they are interchangeable.
Oh yes,
Al
