10 years, where did they go?
Sad I know but I've just noticed it's 10 years ago today that I joined the Messageboard.
Two things spring to mind.
1) Where did they go?
2) Do I get a badge?

Hi Leafie
Well done! Mind you, if you get a badge for your 10 years 'service', 'bmcecosse', should get a goldplated smokebox door from a Stanier black five. He hasn't quite done his 10 years, but has averaged 12.31 posts per day so far, against your total of 434 (0.12 per day.)
His total, 44267 posts in a month under 10 years. Wow!
All figures quoted are taken from the MMOC messageboard, and no personal guarantee can be given to their accuracy, or otherwise.

Re: 10 years, where did they go?
I'm saying nothing about quality or quantity. Ahem. Of course, it's a bonus if you can achieve both.
Congratulations, Leafie on 10 years long service. The messageboard is certainly a different place than when it first started off. I can remember those cold, lonely days, waiting for replies to messages... and then getting sensible, helpful ones!
If I remember correctly, the messageboard was created late 2001 and the first registered user was in 2002. How many of us registered in 2002 are still regulars on here I wonder?
13 years this year. Unlucky for some...

You have to do 25 years in the MMOC to get a badgeleafie wrote:Sad I know but I've just noticed it's 10 years ago today that I joined the Messageboard.

11th February 2002 for me. Can't say I'm a regular any more, although I do pop in from time to time.
I've just taken a look at the 25 users who joined back in the early days; where have they all gone to? Nice to see a few friendly 'faces' still around.

Hi Gareth! Nice to read your words after all this time!
How's Phyllis? Good I hope.
When was the last website rally? I think the first was 2004. The last one I went to was 2009..

Re: 10 years, where did they go?
I remember the website rallies; the organisation of them at least. I don't think I ever attended one although I came close for the first. Unless someone on here knows differently...
As for Phyllis, she's running well although she's long overdue an intensive clearn and polish. I've made it my new year's resolution (as I do every year) that I will drive her more. Since putting her into semi-retirement I've used her less and less, in fact last year was more of a near-permanent slumber. I had to have most of the braking system renewed last year (on collection, I was asked if I had come to *buy* her, the bill was so big - although nothing compared to ones for my modern) so I'm hopeful to get my money's worth!

Re: 10 years, where did they go?
Last one (I think) we went to was in May 2011 at the Sharnbrook Hotel A6 near Bedford where we all gathered to watch the Grand Prix - can't for the life of me remember which one. Organised by the late greatly missed Roger Forman aka Roger Rust on this site.
