Reversing camera

Post by Tubey98 »

Hi everyone

I came up with an idea recently of fitting a reversing monitor on the drivers glove box and a camera on or near the boot somewhere and i might give it a go. Has anyone done this or somthing similar?

Cheers

Apologies for not taking your idea too seriously but on a Minor it really wouldn't be necessary, unless you have difficulty in turning your head to look behind of course and if that's the case I can see your reasoning. If you want to fit a camera I think a dash-cam would be more useful for those incidents that can happen when you might need evidence - quite entertaining playing it back too I would imagine :D

Like this?[frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame]
(Panel goes in the driver's glovebox aperture).
I'm afraid you're not the first to think of it!

A customer wanted one fitting, we fitted it. I don't see the harm in fitting one personally, it's not exactly a bad thing to have.
We got the screen and camera as a kit, they use conventional plugs for the camera so imagine you can get a replacement unit.

You can also get a rear view mirror with the video screen incorporated, looks and works as a mirror until the screen comes on in reverse, some transits and rangers have them as an option.

...unless it is a van!

I have two vans and the lack of good rearward vision is scary and certainly dangerous.

I would be interested in what other van owners have done to remedy this.

Worked very well for me.

Reversing camera on a Minor? Got an idea! I have a pair of headlamp 'eyebrows' in stainless steel which are redundant (can't stand 'em). How about fitting one above the rear facing camera to avoid dazzle from the sun and add a touch of style? Offered free...(you pay postage!). :D
