I agree that it is not as good as the Arden 8 port head.
The main benefits of the 7 port head over the 8 port are purely financial in that you do not need to have the special cam, the special exhaust manifold, have No: 2 & No: 4 rods machined to clear the cam lobes and the special correct length push rods. which all cost considerably extra.

If you choose the 7 port cross flow head you will need at least two Weber carbs and they are not cheap - so deep pockets needed either way.

I'm sure they have a better cold start device, I still had this vision of a chap in Tweed jacket popping the bonnet of a Midget every morning to 'Tickle' all four Amal carbs!

His name is Mr Tickle.

I would suggest that an 'A' Series fitted with four Amals is tended to by a man in white overalls (not a white coat  )

Reading the ebay listing further, they do offer the kit with two webbers to suit. At $2250 all in. £1500 roughly. Which I dare say isn't THAT expensive in my eyes... Not sure what cam you'd want to run with that setup though.

My 940 head modified to 7 port with two 45 DCOE Webers currently runs a 649 cam and is quite tractable.
