Am trying to trace the history of my 1953 Traveller which went to Nuffield Exports on 3rd December 1953. All I know is that the original registration number was probably 12397. It is right hand drive.
Does anyone know which , probably ex Commonwealth, country used 5 digits reg numbers? I know that Guernsey does.

Any additional plates/tags affixed to the bulkhead apart from alloy "EX" prefix tag?

Gibraltar used numbers only in the 50s?

well MAlta used numbers only but my 53 van was 3563 but I've' seen other 50s cars with 5 numbers, we are RHD unfortunately when Malta changed the plates over from the British type to MAltese type that is they had letters added the history files were discarded! :S so I will not be able to check if it was in Malta but I heard sotries of British militay taking back the cars with them back to UK.
