Further investigations uncovered it was an inside job!!

LRBM, so at the least, 12yrs older than the regn.

No doubt it'll be bought without numbers being checked - bit odd as bodyshell is MoT exempt - have to ask WHY the 70 identity.

GAWD knows!!!

The 1963 Traveller I had, in the past, had Clap-hand wipers.

Could it have been a re-import and had a new reg issued at the time?

I suggest as many as possible contact the seller to point out the error - he's getting a bit 'short' with me already!

Someone went to a lot of trouble fitting the later body spec features into that earlier body shell. Even fitted the large heater air pipe in the engine comp, later heater and dash speedo surround, steering wheel, black seats, etc ,etc.

Roy, he is apparently selling it as a PX and askes prospective buyers to contact the previous owner - what a load of old Crock - he is the seller and he should be fielding the questions.

That is true but as has already been pointed out, this car must be older as it has the infamous "LBM" - the longer rear body moulding which carried over from the Series11 cars into Minor 1000 production until about 1958

As has also been pointed out, somebody went to a great deal of trouble fitting many items from the later car and appears to have filled in the trafficator slots. The photos show the later dashboard additions and interior trim as well as the plastic interior mirror. I wonder what they did about the sunvisors which are a completely different mounting into different header rail on the later car.... One photo shows the retainer for the early type bootlid stay.

If the seller simply took it in part exchange, he probably doesn't know much about Morris Minors. I bet he wishes he hadn't done so now!

Whoever did the conversion did a good job, it is only the wipers, boot stay and LBM that give it away. I wonder what the number on the chassis plate is and if it is the same as the bulkhead.
Did Minor saloons have black seats?

He's already tried to fob me off with 'call the previous owner to discuss' - but HE is now the seller and is responsible for what may very well be a stolen/disguised Minor.

Roy,did you ask for its body number or close up pic of the bulkhead - whether had square or oval chassis plate?

Anyone know when the wiper motor mounting bkt changed from the square to the later bent corner type - something to do with air cleaner I believe(?).

More to all this useless stuff I do than you'd think - booklet NOW uncompassing Oz factory codes - Australian enthusiasts getting a raw deal - so 1st edition already out of date!

One cannot re-register a vehicle to make it years younger,
It's suspicious in the extreme, that's why i pointed it out. Someone may be about to buy a whole lot of trouble here. I made the vendor aware of the obvious, as have others but I doubt he will act and remove it from sale as he obviously has money in it.

I did ask him about the chassis number - and if it matched the stamped in number on the bulkhead (which of course on a 1970 would be on the floor).....there has been no reply.

Any chance of body code please - don't need chassis number - JUST the reversed stamped bit needed.

Ditto for anyone with a changeover Convertible.
