Last Minor Ever......really ?? (Manchester)

Nothing to do me with but a £500 starting, price and mis-listed under "catalogues and brochures" so not many people will see it and it may go cheap with a short listing. The description claims its the last ever Minor. ??
I doubt it because its not a van and the last handbuilt one was N reg out of dealer parts. The outline of the last letter on the faded plate looks like a G. I've seen J reg saloons.

Whatever it is - it doesn't look like it's going to 'last' much longer..... Strange shape to the roof at the front....but looks ok in other pictures. I've asked for chassis and engine numbers...

But surely, if you had the last Morris Minor 2dr, you would properly document and evidence it with proper photos in your advert.

Location is described as Manchester, Cheshire. Possible that the vendor isn't over worried about laser guided accuracy in his descriptions.

He tells me the chassis number is M/A255. 1288377M Dunno if that makes sense ?

1288377 was indeed the last 2 door saloon produced, in November 70, according to Ray Newell's Original Morris Minor!!!!! MA255 will probably be MA2S5 which would be a Morris 1000, right hand drive, standard 2 door saloon, fifth series. I don't know what the final M means.

MA2S5 1288377 is indeed the final recorded chassis number according to Glass's Car Check book for that period.

An interesting project according to that. Surprising that the car wasn't retained by British Leyland but at that time I don't suppose they were so interested in the heritage?

If the car is what it says, it should be part of somebody's collection shouldn't it.

One of the 3 prototype Minor 1000s survives and the Heritage Museum at Gaydon contains what remains of the earliest "MM".

WOW, I stand corrected - I have emailed MINI BMW. If this is genuine, it would be nice if they could save it as an important part of Issigonis and Cowley factory history.

In 1962 production of the Traveller & LCV models were designated letters for each factory;

G = Abingdon/J = Adderley Park/M = Cowley

Summer 1967 saw M introduced for passenger varients, whilst the J didn't appear again until Autumn 1969 for early Adderley Park Travellers....

Long winded explanation perhaps...Zzzz

All assuming that the plate is on the original shell...... Shouldn't have chrome window surrounds if it's a standard, but these could easily have been changed. Everything else looks right.

I notice the seller has now added a Screenshot from the MMOC forum with the chassis number but still no decent pictures or description.

I have to agree, it is an extraordinarily poor advert for something so interesting. Obviously it cannot be moved without a bit of work but he could give it a wipe over or open the bonnet and photograph the chassis number perhaps? Or simply list a bit more about its history?........

If this really is the last UK minor produced ( I am sceptical), then perhaps the MMOC should purchase and restore it. Far more interesting than the MM they have got...
