National Rally 2016 important information

Post by Cam »

Hey guys! If you're coming to the National Rally with a large vehicle or towing a caravan PLEASE do not follow your sat nav if it's offering a "B" road close to Catton, there is a very narrow bridge that will stop you in your tracks!. Follow the signs for A513 to Tamworth (also signposted National Memorial Arboretum) then follow signs for Catton Hall Events.

Anyone travelling from Sheffield Barnsley area and setting off really early on Sat morning. I was planning on leaving about 7am (Stocksbridge) to get there for 9am, with 2 or 3 10 min stops. Strength in numbers and all that. I was going to head down the M1 to Jct 28 and straight down the A38.

Wise words, Cam. This is the Bailey Bridge which was intended as a temporary solution during the last war and is a single carriageway with traffic lights for priority. If you take this road, it is VERY difficult to turn back.

My Transit van used to just fit through with an inch clearance on the mirrors. Anything wider will cause major problems as there are no turning areas!

A vehicle got stuck today on that bridge, so PLEASE take care and go by another route if at all possible.

Thank you. :-)

I've never got around to going to the National Rally but I must put it on the to do list. Does it tend to be in the same area every year or does it move about?

It moves around. We are awaiting confirmation of venue for 2017, but understood to be somewhere in Kent.

I'll keep an eye open for when it's in the West Midlands or south west/Wales.
