Classic Car insurance Companies? Any recommendations?

Post by Eternal0snow92 »

HI Guys,

I'd be very grateful if someone can help me/suggest a good car insurance. I am looking for the basic insurance that will allow me to Drive her. I'm not interested in fully comprehension just the very basic Fire and theft. As I'd probably use a break down cover due to the nature of it being a historic vehicle with Green flag. But so far my research with companies haven't been a positive one and down right confusing with premium and fully comprehension packages. Which I didn't know was a thing! Lol.

And because she's 1961, if she's SORN do I have to notify the tax to take it of SORN? Sorry I'm just a bit lost, this is my first restored Morris Minor.

Yes,you'll have to take her off SORN and tax her if you want to take her on the road. It will be free,of course.
I've always got the best price on insurance by going through a broker but lots of folk on here favour RH,which is now owned by Hiscox, I think.

You need to check with Green Flag that they will cover your car, as all their adverts say car needs to be 10 years or younger.

If it's a second car then you should be able to get a fully comp classic policy very cheaply, usually well under £100, and that comes with breakdown cover included, try RH Specialist, that's who I'm with for all my vehicles. My traveller is my main car and they do a very good deal on it.

I would second that. RH are brilliant.

You sure it is a 1964 car? And you will need to take the Comprehensive cover - which as others have pointed out 'good' Companies such as RH (highly recommended) do with Roadside and Recovery included as standard - so no need for Green Flag. Your red type is difficult to read - how about using black like the rest of us...... :-?
