Modified Bonnet Release

Post by mollythemoggie »

Hi I'm undergoing a radiator swap. I was wondering if anyone has done anything with a less in the way bonnet release?

Any pics/advice would be awesome!

I was thinking something in a pull cable kind of style or similar.
I see JLH may have done something in his time like with the lotus powered ute..

Thanks,
Tom

I've never considered that the release is in the way. The rod is less prone to breaking than a cable, just check that the cotter pin retaining the rod in the lever (front right of car) is in good condition to avoid the rod jumping out.

I'd just leave it alone. It works well.

My 1965 twin-cam Minor had a cable-operated bonnet release (and Marina/Sherpa radiator), fitted by the previous owner:

It worked pretty well.

Easy to fit a cable release but I've had Jethro's radiator in and out several times with no trouble regarding the bonnet release mechanism.
Now the fan blades................
