I took the old coil off of my none starting Doris and a new one saw her start with alacrity.
It was a fluke though because she wouldn't start again, so armed with advice from Chris Bransby of Tom Roy fame I checked out the rotor arm and guess what?
It wasn't the coil, thanks Chris and apologies to BMC Ecosse in abstentia.

As a penance I suggest wearing a shirt knitted from the finest Scottish heather for a week and recite the following,

It's never the coil
I should replace it first with a nos
The new ones are made in tin huts in far away places
It's never the coil

Well, the heather really really itches, but at least it aint made from Scottish nettles.
