Re: Hello and engine number.
Both numbers shown in the photos above are not the ones required to identify the block.
You need to go further back on the block to between the oil pump suction upriser and the rear of the block still under the camshaft.
I have just looked at a spare 1275cc Midget engine block I have and the block number is 12G949 which has a thin flange of 6mm - 8mm and has an engine prefix of 12CC.
As your engine has the thick flange block the engine prefix could be either 12CD, 12CR or 12V.

Found it, difficult to see from above on the Midget as there is a boss just above it.

Re: Hello and engine number.
That is the number 12G1279 which identifies the block as fitted to a 1275cc Midget/Sprite.
As an aside the Mini 1275cc GT block is either 12G397, 12G380, 12G389, 12G390 or 12G706. The engine block casting number is dependent upon the build spec.

Re: Hello and engine number.
Thanks for the info Phil, much appreciated. At least I know it's the correct engine- next thing is to work out what gearbox I've got.

Re: Hello and engine number.
The gearbox can be identified by the number on the first motion shaft.

Re: Hello and engine number.
The picture of my car is at the top of this thread. Where can I find the official colour and paint code please?
I think it is Dove Grey. But I want to be sure.
I'd like to get some ordered in case of little scrapes and chips. It just says "Grey" on my logbook.
Thanks.

Re: Hello and engine number.
It does indeed look like Dove Grey. The colour range was fairly limited!
