Headlamp upgrade advice
Help, I'm confused. There are Wipac halogen headlamps available for around £33 a pair, and Wipac "Quadoptic" headlamps for not much more. Any advice/experience of these or any others. Thanks.

Re: Headlamp upgrade advice
I had a pair of headlamps fitted that I bought years ago at a car show for £10 each, looked ok but never did like the 'flat' fronts to the plus the silvering was coming off the reflector.
Earlier this year I fitted a pair of Quadoptics (about £45) which have the sidelights with the main bulb.
Look correct now with the radiused front lens and work well enough fitted with standard 55/60w bulbs, I have also wired in the additional sidelight.

Will work even better with an 80/100W halogen bulb! The wiring from the dip switch has the capacity, but you should really fit a relay into the dip and main circuits to 'unload' the dip switch and the supply wire into the dip switch.

Yes, proper glass!

Wipac Quadoptic look right, are glass, and arguably the best upgrade. The standard halogen bulb is adequate and legal, an 80/100 does not comply with lighting regulations. I'd agree that the regs are outdated and should look at lumens rather than wattage, but so far as I can see, they still have a maximum wattage.
To upgrade further, ESM sell an LED kit that fits the Quadoptics, but you will need standard metal buckets to fit, some "universal" plastic headlamp buckets are too short.

Re: Headlamp upgrade advice
Could I ask where you have ordered your Quadoptics from please.
I am considering the same upgrade path myself.
Are you intending fitting any relays, or just using the existing wiring ?
Thanks
Phil
