dome rubber / suspension.

Wonder if anyone could tell me what this part is called as mine has just fallen off,
On the passenger side of car, front suspension, its a dome type shape rubber bung looking thing, also what's the best way of refixing it, thanks.

It is called a Bump stop, replace it with a new one.

They are handed so make sure that you get the correct one - better to replace both R/H & L/H whilst you are at it.

They are each held in place with two 1/4" UNF bolts/nuts/washers.

Thanks guys, only noticed it on floor after water system flush, got rid of loads of brown sludge from heater and engine, however on the right side of engine there is a tap such I've replaced but it still won't let anything out, does this mean hhead off or is there another way, appreciate your help.

I suspect thyat your tap is on the left hand side of the engine, near the back, aft of the exhaust. That might be the right hand side as you look at it from the front of the car, but convention is that we always refer to the side off the car; so the distributor, starter motor snd dynamo/alkternator are on the right.

The tap often gets blocked but can be unsrewed as a coplete unit - later engines came with a screw-inj plug rather than a tap. With the tap removed, if water still does not flow, then poke around with a small scredriver, a thin corskscrew, or a drill bit and try to rmeove and crud that remians in the hole. Absolutely no need to remove the head to just clear the drain. A further flush with suitable additive might be in order.

Or

Near-side (N/S) the left side of the car when looking forward from the rear.

Off-side (O/S) the right side of the car when looking forward from the rear.

Near-side (N/S) the left side of the car when looking forward from the rear.

Off-side (O/S) the right side of the car when looking forward from the rear.
Except on LHD vehicles driven on the right hand side of the road where the opposite is true, hence using left and right to avoid confusion :wink:

In motor racing terms, it's left and right from the driver's view. I think left front, right rear etc makes more sense.

The BL workshop manuals state either right or left when looking forward from the rear of the vehicle.
It does not differentiate between R/H or L/H drive.

Whilst it is not safe to assume that the vehicle in question is not in the UK and is not L/H drive the OP has given no indication that he/she is anywhere other than the UK with a R/H drive vehicle.

Sorry guys, yep UK car, right hand drive, I was asking while stood at the front of the car, and I am male, the car is 948cc 1959, 643cuo, sorry for confusion, daz.

Being such a great naval country, I surprised new terms were chosen (nearside/farside) instead of port and starboard which avoids the confusion. The side is always the same no matter which way you are looking. Perhaps the fact that the driver could be on a different side directed the curb related terms since it is a variable to the country.

Its quite simple. If you are sat behind the steering wheel looking out the front windscreen, your right is the car's RHS and your left is the car's LHS. 8)

It reminds me of a tale of a VW mechanic, who told me about a slight mishap with a Type 2 Pick Up. The gearbox had been taken out and was refitted in time for the customer to collect, after lunch, on the day in question. So far so good. When the mechanic (Not the one who told me the tale) went to reverse out, the vehicle went forward :o . It had one forward and four reverse. With a VW, of that type, it was possible to put the box in upside down. When this mistake was discovered, everyone pitched in and it was fixed in an hour and in time for the customer to collect.
