Re: Ital to Minor top hose
How about a "S" shaped hose, looks like it should work simply enough,

Re: Ital to Minor top hose
Use a Marina thermostat housing with the three securing stud holes drilled out to 3/8".
There is a 1275cc engine to Minor radiator thermostat housing available that involves no drilling of the thermostat housing bolts or cutting of the radiator top hose pipe. If I can find the link I will post on here.

Re: Ital to Minor top hose
Cut off the pipe on the radiator leaving approx 1" and purchase a rad hose with a 90deg bend from your local motor factor, make sure you get the correct internal diameter, or cut a Minor bottom hose to fit

David Manners Group Thermostat housing Pt No: 12M220 is the part you require.

Re: Ital to Minor top hose
Isn't the MGB sized for a larger hose? What's the best way to deal with that?

There are two thermostat housing with different top hose connections:
12H2556...…………..Small outlet.
12H797...…………….Large outlet.
There are variations in the outer shape of the MG thermostat housing.
I have a MG cast steel thermostat housing 12H2474 (with air pump mounting bracket) which has a 28.5 outside diameter outlet pipe.
It looks to fit correctly when offered up but would require the air pump mounting bracket to be removed - and I would suggest that the 5/16" holes are bored to 3/8" to allow a better alignment.
The Marina/Ital thermostat housing has a 25.4mm outlet pipe.

What a brilliant idea. This is what I will be doing the next time the thermostat housing is removed.philthehill wrote: ↑Sun Aug 18, 2019 6:12 pm and I would suggest that the 5/16" holes are bored to 3/8" to allow a better alignment.

Re: Ital to Minor top hose
Evening all,
I went the other way and modified the radiator. The curved top tube can be unsoldered with a blowlamp and then shortened to just leave a straight spigot with the rolled end on it to stop the hose coming off. It can then be soldered back in place. The radiator can then be connected to the thermostat housing using a standard bottom hose trimmed to suit. It works for me although it does make the radiator non-standard.
Hope this helps. Regards, Colin.

Re: Ital to Minor top hose
P. S. The thermostat housing is standard Minor rather than an Ital/Marina one.
Re: Ital to Minor top hose
O.K, Many thanks again for all the suggestions.
I looked into all possibilities, and decided to go the MGB route.
I hadn’t realised there where two different types till Phill highlited the part numbers.
So I bought both parts!
The one that fits in the photo is part number 12H797,the other part 12H2556 won’t look at it.
I had to shorten the top hose slightly, but all seems good.
Martin.

Re: Ital to Minor top hose
That looks tidy. I also keeps the bellows in the hose too to allow a bit of movement between the engine and the radiator.
Good one.
Cheers, Colin.
