Insurance - Are there any really specialist brokers?
Footman James are refusing to renew the insurance on our Minor (despite being insured with them for about 20 years) after we have had two own fault claims on our modern car in the last year and one non-fault claim on the Minor the year before. I have tried various of the well known classic car insurance specialists and they are generally refusing to offer cover. Does anyone know any insurance brokers that are likely be able to help? Perhaps brokers who actually offer cover from a wide range of insurance companies?

If it’s just the Minor you’ve been refused cover for, how about trying the company that insure your modern car? I presume you’re still covered for that.

I used ERS https://www.ers.com after Footman James turned out to be complete time wasting idiots.

To answer Les, renewing our main modern car insurance was not a problem. However, I have just had to pay a high premium for my 2003 Jag S type.
I will give ERS a try.

My point was, if you are able to insure your modern car without problems, maybe that particular company would not refuse to cover your Minor.

I always insure my vehicles through 'A' Plan who used to arrange insurance for my 1980s Landrover and currently my 1980s motorcycle plus my modern.
I have always found 'A' Plan extremely helpful when it comes to insurance.
What I like about 'A' Plan is that you can actually speak to a real person face to face.

I've just gone with footman James, 2,000 miles, parked on drive, fully comp, and r.a.c. roadside and recovery for 138.15, have I made a mistake, ,☹

We are with Norton Heritage Classic Car Insurance, and have been since the Minor was restored in 1998. They are very easy to talk to, with very little queuing or be constantly assured that we are 'important' - usually get straight through to their Birmingham office with minimal delay.
The only claims have been for recovery - one in the UK needing delivering home, and two in France (one needing full repatriation, the other just a hire car while a new rocker shaft was couriered out to us). Never waited more than 45/50 minutes for them to arrive, even in the middle of France - superb service!
£180 for 5000 miles, agreed value, all the modifications noted, 4 drivers, European cover and recovery.

Re: Insurance - Are there any really specialist brokers?
Finally got a solution to the problem: Adrian Flux. They do seem to act like a proper broker as they said they searched 50-60 companies when they gave me a quote. The person who I spoke to on the phone also seemed totally clued up, not someone who just robotically goes through the standard questions. I should have gone to them to start with as we have the modern car and the Jag S type insured through them. Got a 5000 mile classic car policy for £175.
