Not a Morris Minor, but a new Morris commercial. Maybe there will be a new Minor in the future as these British investors now own the brand.

The article only states ‘Morris Commercial’, so possibly not ‘Morris’ in its entirety. If Morris and Morris Commercial were owned by the same company, they may sell ‘Morris’ at a later date if sales go well for the new JE Van. Will be interesting to wait and see what they come up with!

Saw this the other day. They've obtained the rights to use the Morris Commercial brand name.

Don't hold your breath though. The first of the electric J Type vans was supposed to hit the streets two years ago. They're still not in production.

An ambitious project! And because it will be a new vehicle, it will surely have to pass all sorts of regulations?? as opposed to the "new" electric Minis and MGBs etc which actually use an old V5 document and identity to get around this I believe.

I hope it is a better vehicle to drive than the original too . I remember driving an original "J"type Morris Van at work as a youngster. Even then it was considered a bit of a joke........

I can't quite stretch back to driving a Morris J, although I can recall seeing them, but I do remember driving occasional Bedford CA van/minibuses, with 3 speed column shift and sliding doors.
You'd pull away with the door open, jab the brake to make it slide shut, then accelerate again!

I'm a traditionalist......and proud of it - hence Moggy owner...….but I'm slowly shifting my view on the modern 'retro take' on a number of classic cars. Think, VW Beetle, Fiat 500, Mini, MGB etc.

Maybe it's a case of familiarity, and all that, as I wasn't struck on any of the modern versions of any of those above when first introduced but they have all grown on me now and do, albeit tenuously, keep the memory of those classics alive.

As far as Moggies are concerned, I wouldn't be averse to the introduction of a new model which, say, had more than a nod to Minor 1000. Just as a styling exercise, to fill a chapter in Jon Pressnell's book, one or two car designers had a go at what a modern Moggy might look like.

Copyright is a very complex issue, hence there are lawyers that specialise in it.

Check the copyright details in the book, usually on one of the front few flyleaves. Generally they will get upset about it and use phrases such as 'All Rights Reserved', which don't actually have a legal standing in this day and age.
But there's quite a few different formats of the copyright message.
I would think it would be a breach.

A common message is along the lines of cannot be reproduced, stored, transmitted by any means, copied etc, etc without the permission of the copyright holder.

People around here, including myself, will sometimes post clips from the Manual which has

© BRITISH LEYLAND MOTOR CORPORATION LIMITED 1970

on the copy that is easily found on-line; but I don't think BLMC are going to come after anyone.

However, the paper copy I have has an additional copyright assigned to Brookland Books Ltd 1985, 1998, 2015....
I have no idea if Brookland Books can go after something that isn't from their version...

Best not to risk litigation to either myself or the site then . On the inside of the external cover however, it does mention that the author is a long-term member of the MMOC and has owned Minors for nearly 20 years......so if you are reading this...….

The (BMW) Mini is more like a maxi on steroids and not healthier for it (the Clubman version falls into the plain ugly bracket) and the new Beatle looks more like a slug......
The new Fiat 500, in its smallest size / form is quite attractive (cute is a fair description) and has (or had) a nice range of pastel shades that were quite evocative of the era the original came from. So one out of three so far.......
However the larger versions of the 500 try to turn it into something it was never meant to be and in that are quite awful........
I have yet to see the latest incarnation of the MG (is there one or have they ceased trading again?).........

I was thinking specifically of the MGB which was reincarnated as the MGRV8 i.e. an MGB roadster with a V8, which they should have made in the first place!

I do agree with you though on the latest BMW Clubman and the puffed up versions of the baby Fiat.

I have owned a Chinese built MG GS bought new 3 years ago and 30k miles later it has been just fine frankly, great value for money.
The ZS is prominent now with an electric version available now, the ZS EV, I belive an HS larger petrol model is also due out.

I believe an ex navy officer may be involved with the original Morris makes a comeback post.
He is highly respected engineer, who has developed a new type of battery without all the nastiest chemicals.
They are going to try it in a tut tut first, and then move onto Morris commercial's.
The write up was very encouraging, it is small enough to be easily changed for a recharged one, with a phenomenal range.
Morris lead's the way. Again.
