This was posted on facebook by my cousin, who is a local historian, taken in Stockton on Tees in the mid sixties.

For the rest of us it means...………..

'Go carefully for 1/3 mile' :D

The traveller registration appears to be OON 258F. I wonder if she is still around?

This would be 1968 or after as the reflective plate, as on the traveller was optional from then and compulsory five years later.

The F plate alone is enough to confirm the earliest date, ie ‘68. Plus that woman on the right wears a coat first available from the early 70s! :D

Tried KKN 250F, KKN 258F, KXN250F, the DVLA database doesn't list any of them.
I also tried the Leyland bus FVX 350 but sadly that seems to no longer exist either.....

It may well be that someone out there is driving around with parts from this traveller fitted to their car...…
Or they could both be tucked away in a barn somewhere...….
Best wishes,
Mike.

Personally I try to Gan Canny all the time, not just the next 1/3rd of a mile 8)

I saved the picture to my PC then blew it up, so I'm afraid it definitely starts with a 'K' and ends in an 'F'.
Time to start looking through the local outbuildings...…………..
Best wishes,
Mike.

We lived in Northumberland for many years. Back in the’70’s I used to visit a pub called the Ca’Canny near a village called Wideopen.
Got talking to an ex miner who had taken redundancy rather than transfer to a midlands colliery...his pit at Havannah having closed a few months previously. He lamented the lack of local jobs paying a miner’s wage and admitted that he would, after all, have to move ‘doon south’ for work. I sympathised and asked where he was having to move to.
‘Stockton on Tees’ he said...

We are all going blind trying to work this one out....Suggested number may be KXN 258 F but this was not issued with an F suffix. Or KKN 250 F -not issued on an F but was issued on an E January 1967. CKN 250 F not issued on an F. CXN likewise.

Any more ?

That would be right, the South of the North east suffered from an identity crisis, part Yorkshire, variously cleveland, Teesside, yes it has TWO esses, and Co. Durham and the language reflects that with a smattering of all types of dialect inserted.
Until we consider football, then the lines between Middlesbrough, the smoggies, Sunderland, the Mackems, and Newcastle, Geordies, then there is no blurring at all.

I'd say it is either
KXN 250F
or
KXN258F

unless it's an E and the letter is broken......
