LH top trunnions

Post by rsawatson »

There seems to be a universal shortage of LH top trunnion kits at the moment - every supplier seems to be out of stock! Does anyone know why? Perhaps more importantly for me, does anyone know of a supplier where there are some in stock? I'm trying to recommission my car for Minors on Tour and would like to get this done ASAP.

Thanks - I hadn’t considered Club Spares either.

I got a LH upper trunnion kit here, about a month ago. I was dubious about going via ebay but nobody else had them then , and it seems things haven't changed. The place is called Parts in Motion or PIM if the ebay link doesn't work or they're no longer marketing that part.

As far as I can tell it's OK (I haven't fitted it, as I'm saving up to get new swivels as well, then I'll have everything I need lined up for a full front end birthday)

Situation doesn’t seem to have improved any since March. Hopefully now things are easing up a bit they’ll appear back in stock.

I’m after a top L/H kit too. No way I’d pay the exorbitant price that chancer on eBay is asking. No surprise it hasn’t sold yet!

I received an email from ESM this morning advising that they’re in short supply due to manufacturing shortages. They expect a delivery “shortly.”

Presumably other parts suppliers will also be expecting stock at the same time.

Is there any reason (which I'm obviously missing) why the LH upper trunnion would fail more than the RH one??
This is, I presume, the reason for the LH ones being hard to obtain.
I've rebushed both of mine and they seemed okay otherwise (1954 car)......... (touching wood right now! )........
Best wishes,
Mike.

Can you please enlighten me as how you re-bushed your trunnions?

Do you mean that you have replaced the rubber bushes in the top trunnions.

Maybe the gutter being on the left ( UK ) with lots more water , grids and kerbstones?

Roundabouts being clockwise ?

Fair enough John, I've been lucky so far then......

Best wishes,
Mike.
