When installing the chrome window frame into my 1968 Traveller front door, I see that there should be a rubber cushion seated where the frame contacts the door at the rear. Pic attached to show what I mean. On my blue 1962 unrestored Minor, there clearly is one. See pic.
I can't find any such part on ESM's site, and they seem the most comprehensive. Any ideas? Or do folks just cut and fit something from sheet rubber?

They should be fitted. I suppose it should be possible to cut a piece of rubber from an old inner tube or similar? I did manage to obtain a pair for my car by ringing round the specialists in the magazine but I can't remember now who had them.
Also, just because a company doesn't list an item on their website it doesn't always mean they don't have them. It is often worth a telephone call.
It is those small details which make the difference on a restoration.

I have just looked in a genuine BMC parts list and the item required is not shown or listed. I would therefore suggest that you make your own gasket from a suitable material. The sleeve from a Ripaults connector slit lengthways would be a suitable item to use.

You could try moulding one from sugru. It made a great job repairing damage to the rubber inserts on my Beetle bumper.

I've never heard of Sugru before. Is it as good as the website suggests? On the face if it it looks like an alternative to the big tubes of filler if you have a small sealing job, but without all the mess that I usually end up with. Does it dry hard or does it stay flexible? Does it go off if you don't use it? I wonder if your could use it instead of Dum Dum putty around the wood on a Traveller if you rolled it into long strips?

As Steve's a "regular" we make allowances . Also, I think driving a Beetle makes him appreciate how good a car a Minor is

Just to add something to the original subject. I don't believe this part was ever fitted to the 4 door version - and therefore not to the van and pick-up either.

Yes, the Minor is a better car to drive, but the B****e is a lot of fun and the chrome is better quality.

It’s useful stuff and sets like rubber. If you keep the little packets in a cool place they keep for a couple of years.
I’ve used the black to do repairs to little cracks on window rubbers and the results are good. Practically invisible.

Great suggestions, thanks! I also never heard of Sugru but can already think of a hundred or so uses.

Looking through the various parts I've purchased but not yet installed, and thinking outside the box, I noticed the rubber strip that goes between the bulkhead and bonnet seems to have the exact profile needed. See pic. Maybe some judicious trimming leaving a flap so the frame screws lock it in place might just do the trick. Think I'll cannibalize the rubber now and order another for the bulkhead later.
