Rubber bung or grommet 5/16 BSF

Post by MorrisJohn »

Anyone know where I can buy a few rubber bung or grommet type things to place in my floor’s unused seat bolt holes? I believe they’re 5/16 BSF.

Had a search on google but nothing obvious is coming up.

I just searched Google and loads of ‘ blanking grommets ‘ came up , some on Fleabay. One of the strange things about Google is that it brings up different results on different computers .

Try a company called Vital Parts. They sell loads of end caps, bungs, grommets etc.

Just fill the unused holes with Eldro dum dum sealing compound. It is flexible, does not go hard and can be painted over. It is what I have used for sealing the surplus seat bolt holes.

Seems like that stuff was discontinued about seven years ago

Thank you. I’ll look them up.

Had looked at eBay and a lot of the stuff is in Asia with long delivery times (and all metric).

If Dum Dum is no longer available why not put a bolt in the hole from underneath trimmed so it is flush with the floor.

The factory simply used a bit of body caulking to plug the hole and protect the thread so I would suggest the same.

I just used some grub screws with a dab of loctite.
