A Pembrokeshire registration. I wonder which BMC garage it was sold from?

Nice looking car, seems to be in good condition.
But £15,000 to £20,000.........................
Even if the chassis plate wasn't being questioned, I could buy three decent 'ordinary' moggy's for that!
It's not as if there was only one made.
Or that this is number 1,000,000.
So sorry, they're a nice curiosity but basically an overpriced two door in a horrible colour.
So no thanks.
Best wishes,
Mike.

Out of interest, here is the chassis number:

So is it correct or is 'ManyMinors' correct to question it?
Best wishes,
Mike.

That style of plate was used from mid 1958 onwards.
M = Morris
A = A-series engine
2S = 2 door saloon (S not 5)
3 = 948 cc
1000021 = car number
I don't believe that the factory stamped 25 instead of 2S, it's a typical mistake when copying poor hand writing or a badly worn original plate; so I think that it is correct to say that it did not leave the factory with that plate.

And the plate wouldn't still have polythene film on it!

I might be wrong but I thought all chassis plates were held on with screws?

They were always held by screws until the last year or so of production - so both are correct!

Just to add to the mix, my 1965 2 door has a screwed in Chassis plate, but its also has been fitted, shall we say out of level, must have been a rush job on a Friday evening!

All 4 plates under Basil's bonnet are fixed with screws.
Flat head for the 2 main ones and cross head for the 2 little ones at the top passenger side.
The flat heads are all lined up with the slot horizontal.. :)
