Cartoon

Post by Admin »

This is a bit borderline - I've put it up but if it offends any then I'll remove it. I'm not casting any aspersions one way or the other on the political element, but I thought it was rather a good cartoon!

I agree.
Politics aside, it's a Minor, so it's fine.

On a deeper level, without direct caption to anything, it could be interpreted as being comment on many things, including Brexit, Covid, Nationalism, All Lane Running & SMART Motorways etc. so it should stay and just lock it if any ruckus kicks off. :)

It is interesting that even after all these years the Minor still represents a British icon.

What are you viewing on? It's there on my windows PC, and also if I use the browser on my Android phone.
No need to open it, it's just 'there'.

Got it now thanks. It's just there, as if by magic, Berni.

All I've done since my first post was to put my laptop to 'sleep' (Windows 10) and 'wake' it up again!

Interesting cartoon and as you say, without a specific caption, it could be about absolutely anything. Nothing for anyone to get offended about at all......but give it time! :D Forgive me if I repeat what I'm sure I must have mentioned before but I am convinced there are increasing numbers of people (basically, attention seekers) who are just looking for something to be offended about.

We really are becoming a 'woke' society. What's the latest one? - Mr Potato Head to become gender neutral now (dropping 'Mr' from the name) We really mustn't risk offending any lady potatoes, must we?.......and don't get me going on transgender spuds. :D Who wants to be called a Potato Head anyway?

Back on track - how about a caption competition? I'll start us off:

''I told you not to go ambulance chasing - all the warning signs were there''

I’m glad there are like-minded people here when it comes to all that nonsense :D

There’s a cartoon character in Viz Comic called ‘Major Misunderstanding’ who is often seen driving a 2 door Morris 1000 saloon in the strips. I think it must be based on a real one as the registration plate is the same in each strip.

Carl Giles who did the wonderful Giles cartoons used to put his series 1 Landrover in the strips in a similar fashion.

I’ll see if I can find a strip

**5pm found one. I claim fair use as it’s only two rows of a full page

I like Viz too. Never used to suffer any PC claptrap.
Now there's the name for a strip, perhaps I should post it in their suggestions box................
Best wishes,
Mike.

Certainly is. My Dad had a brand new Commer Imp van with a D plate, so I'm certain of it.
Ignore the small child, just my little sister getting in the way......
Note the high tech anti fogging device. I seem to recall he later fitted an after-market screen heater.
