3 pin blinker car

Post by mollythemoggie »

Hi All,
i was just wondering if someone could tell me what each of the pins were ie L X and +?

im looking at doing mike perry's 2 blinker can trafficator setup but using the return pin (whichever it is) to light the bulb on the indicator stalk.

Thanks,
Tom

The alternative lettering is
B = Green from Fuse
L = Green/Brown to Indicator Switch
P = Light Green to Indicator Switch Warning Light
I will have a look at some spare flashers in the morning to see which is which on the type you mentioned.
The 2 pin flashers are suitable for the early switches with non flashing warning lights.
Trailer indicator flashers have up to 5 terminals with an earth lead and an extra warning light

so does p go to the little lamp on the end of the stalk and also the indicator lamps themselves?

b = fused power
l = stalk which closes the circut?
p = goes to light on stalk and the indicators themselves? ie put a double spade on there?

No P only operates the warning light on the stalk, B is the power cable and L takes the flash to the indicator switch.
Fuse - Flasher - Switch - Lights
The flasher unit has to be the correct rating for the number of bulbs and their rating. On a Minor there will be 2x21W bulbs + 1W warning light. If one of the bulbs blows then the unit will not flash and neither will the warning light.
On my wiring diagram the flashers are put after the switch so that the trafficators work correctly

I had a look in the garage. I seem to remember testing all my spare flashers and throwing away the dud ones so I have only got a P B L flasher. Still it should not be too difficult to swap the wires around until you find the right combination.
