Precautions and checks
If you were about to re-commission a Minor that had stood idle for nearly 30 years in dry storage what precautions would you take with reguard to the electrical system?
Older and more confused than I could ever imagine possible.

Re: Precautions and checks
When connecting the battery and turning on the ignition for the first time have an assistant handy to watch for smoky wires and disconnect the battery at the end of the day just in case something is smoldering away unnoticed. Also carry out a visual check to make sure there are no disconnected wires hanging around. They all have a place or tape the ends up until you can work out where they should go.
Re: Precautions and checks
You only ask about electrics - but don't try to start the engine until you have oiled the bores - and carefully tried to turn it by hand. If it turns - pour in some new oil to cover the rocker gear - and then crank it up on the starter - with plugs out - until the oil pressure light goes out - and then keep churning for another 5 to 10 seconds. Only then should you attempt to start it.
