can i keep my regulator with an alternator

started the conversion too an alternator today...
new brackets in place , alternator bolted in place
but im stuck with the wiring... i dont really want to be running new wires everywhere
ive seen the wiring help topics on here
so cant just use the old wiring...
i remember years back on my lotus cortina i just joined four wires together
is this possible on the morris...

alternators have their own regulators ,you can keep yours in the car but serving no function,show only .do a search on here and you will find the wiring diagram

hi yeah i no the alternator has a built in reg ... i missed the word 'wiring'

my plan is to use the original wiring for the alternator, leave the regulator where it is then with some old wiring fit a dummy loom
so it looks like it still connected

found the site is was looking for

connections as follows

disconect the 'e ' wire ... not req'd
connect 'f' & 'd' together
connect 'al' 'a' and 'd' together

which is what i did to my lotus cortina all them years ago...

This is doing my head in now .... HELP !!!!!!

Regulator has 8 wires.. Where am I going wrong all the wiring diagrams show five

It's dark under your bonnet, and a good few miles away, so go on, give us a clue.

Which model of Minor?

What wires (what colours) are connected to each terminal of your control box?

Do any of them look like add-ons, or are they all part of the original loom?

Please see instructions that came with my alternator, it did include the wiring conversion loom that connected to alternator.
