Hi everyone
How common is it to have the ignition light on when the engine is at idle?
could it be a dynamo fault or maybe the control box?
thanks for any comments

Re: dynamo?
does the light go out when you rev the engine , if it does just raise the idle a tad

Re: dynamo?
Quite common if the idle speed is sufficiently low.

Basics checked already ? Fan belt tension Ok , electrical connections = clean metal and tight fit , no damaged / frayed wires .

Re: dynamo?
Its fine, as long as the light goes out when you rev above idle. My car is exactly like that. You can, as suggested above, increase the idling speed but you will then be consuming more petrol while you are stuck in a traffic jam

Re: dynamo?
It is designed to do that and shows when the regulator has switched from Dynamo to Battery usually under 1000 revs. Not and issue and no need to worry. Would worry if it did not come on as idle would be too fast.

Thanks everyone
I will just leave things alone if its not an issue as i dont really want to increase the tick over much because she sounds nice and happy at the RPM its doing
