Yes but you need to know if your car is positive earth or negative earth to order the right kit.
You should have no problems and you can keep the old points in the boot to change back if it ever fails.

Or just clip a sparkrite unit on the coil...mine just kept going on and on and on.....

If positive earth, do seriously consider changing the polarity because if there is any intention, in the future, to change to an alternator generator there would be extra cost at that time.

I used the Petronix electronic ignition convertor kit on the 25D4 distributor in my 1098cc Traveller, from Distributor Doctor. It was straightforward to install and can be easily reversed. The car starts easier and runs smoother now.

Thanks for the feedback, it's negative earth!. Do I just wire the new unit in place of the points and condenser?

Thanks

Richard

The type and number of the distributer is stamped on the main body of the distributer.

And bin the distributor cap that comes with the Accuspark directly!
They are rubbish. I had two failures within one year.

The "Distributor Doctor" recommended his own cap or the Lucas cap which he says is a looser fit.

I purchased this one (45D4) to road test but have not got around to it:
FACET (2.8078)-Made in Italy and looks good quality. The fit is excellent.

Absolutely cannot fault anything from Distributor Doctor - but my Accuspark caps have been no trouble at all. :D

Hi guys

I fitted my accuspark electronic ignition, went in like a dream and started 1st time! Just one last question, I bought an accuspark timing light but was a bit baffled as the timing mark pointers are at the bottom of the timing case and wondered how you check the timing? Any advice welcome

Thanks

Richard

Richard,
Either get used to crawling underneath or replace the timing cover with a cover where the marks are visible from the engine bay or make up new ones. Here's a photo of what I did on a 1275 engine and it costs less to nothing. Very easy to do when the rad is out but still possible without removal. Set the engine to TDC on the compression stroke and duplicate the marks. The scale was done on a CAD and making a sticker is not an issue. You will have to play around with the scale on your printer to get it to print accurately.
Here is the drawing, which is for a Midget. I can provide it in a higher resolution.
