I need to buy a new battery

Post by sixdogsisback »

The Lucas Calcium battery which has been on my Minor for well over 13 yeas has finally given up. I would like to replace it with a similar Calcium battery, but I don't know where to buy one from. I'm a bit out of touch with buying batteries for cars. I would welcome suggestions. I think that Lead acid batteries have had their day, as the calcium batteries are far superior, Last for a long time, don't discharge when stood and they are much lighter and safer.

Thanks! Clive!

Your ‘calcium’ battery is, in fact, a type of lead acid battery. It is just that improvements to the battery plate chemistry have moved forward over the years.

In that case, why does it have a pb free symbol on the casing?

Googled it out of interest and it would appear it does have a lead content .

I've bought batteries for several vehicles from:

https://www.tayna.co.uk/

Always been satisfied.

Thanks for all your suggestions. Checking out the options, I've decided to buy a Lucas battery from Tayna Batteries
https://www.tayna.co.uk/car-batteries/#
They have a Lucas Calcium battery very similar to the one I'm replacing. It is a better spec than my original and is offered at a very good price.
Thanks again for all your help.
