New battery

Post by alanworland »

My Morris tends to get 'hand me down' batteries from our other vehicles. Not ideal but as the Morris is less demanding on power it works except that my last hand me down had discharged to the point where once connected to a charger the alarm chirped! A well flat and exhausted battery.
Ordered a new 45 amp hour jobbie and in the meantime I disconnected the alarm and connected my Aldi charger and after a couple of days appeared to recover!
Today I cranked it over on the starter for what seemed an age with battery volts not dropping below 10.6v, fantastic, a steady cranking speed with no slowing up!
Certainly capable of giving some more service, in the middle of this, you guessed it - my new one turned up!

Hi Alan, I had battery trouble on friday with Woddie and I ordered a replacement 40 AH battery for the same reasons.
The extra AH makes all the difference as it wont drain as quickly as the lower amp batteries and I found starting has improved also.
I remember some years ago owning an MG Montego that lost the battery charge over a short period of time and an auto electrician advised a higher AH battery which cured any future problems for me.
Morris Minors..... such fun :D

Leave it for a week, or so, and your ‘certainly capable’ comment might be revised.

‘Act in haste, repent at leisure’ might be an appropriate thought for the day?

Do let us know whether “it appeared to recover” was “it did recover’ or if appearances were ‘deceptive’ (it appeared to recover, but....). :D
