I'm considering fitting led side light bulbs on my Moggie indicators and brake lights to improve the safety aspect of my car and wonder if anybody has fitted these in their own car's and what the general feeling is for these bulbs aswell as any links to buy.

I bought some inferior quality ones from ebay that did not last very long, before buying some excellent ones from here.

I’ve used the same supplier for my side/brake lights, and indicators, they also supplied the flasher that’s required for led indicator bulbs. They seem decent quality and postage is free.

You have to be careful with LED side/brake light bulbs, one set I bought on ebay had a very similar light output for each "filament".
This meant when you had your side lights on, the brake lights were barely noticeable at the same time.

The ones from Classic Car LED's do not have this problem and are very bright even in daylight.
A good reason for fitting them is to reduce the current passing through the brake light switch as those are notoriously temperamental.

You get what you pay for with LED bulbs.

Don’t forget that LEDs are polarity conscious. They are diodes and not bulbs

Thank you all - please could you share your views on which LEDs to get for the front side lights and for the number plate lamp? - bright white or warm white, and standard or extra bright?

IMO warm white is best for the front side lights, they look more in keeping with the character of the vehicle.

Warm white would be my preference from what I have seen so far.

Changed my headlights for Quadoptics with the sidelight window as I had planned to have extra sidelights working at the same time.
I put LEDs in them and they are absolutely fantastic but just don't go with the car they are a cool white and while very visible I should have gone for a warm white!

When I enquired about LED headlamps, I was advised by "Classic Car LED's" not to use Quadoptics as they have a heavily patterned glass which when used with a bright LED bulb can lead to a patterned light beam on the road.

They advised me to use plain Lucas units in conjunction with the warm white 3000k H4 LED bulbs for the best results.
