Hi just had some major work done on my 1968 minor I've put everything together connected up the lights but the indicators weren't working at all! Then after a bit of fiddling they come in without flashing just on all the time when I indicate both left and right! The indicator stalk light isn't on at all!
I can't use a multimeter electrics isn't my thing
Would appreciate some wisdom here
Thanks
Richard

What major work? Was the flasher relay disconnected? It sounds like it may be connected incorrectly.

I would agree that the flasher unit is the most likely suspect.

The old type of flasher was of the bimetallic type - flash rate would depend on current drawn. You may have just insufficient current to make them flash - look for a high resistance joint somewhere.

Major work could mean welding, the flasher relay could have been affected.
Remove the connections to the relay and connect them all together then operate the indicators. If they operate as they should without flashing then it's the relay at fault.

Hi guys thanks for the suggestions I connected the wires together and the indicator lights stay on!
What does that mean?

Well you've not answered the earlier questions, which were intend to help people diagnose the problem rather than just throwing wild ideas about, but from the sounds of it the Flasher is duff.
Simply put, you've connected the wires together and they all came on, ergo, the only suspect is the Flasher isn't flashing!

Which is what Trickydicky said
If they operate as they should without flashing then it's the relay at fault.

Not offended, you just gave the impression that you weren't actually paying attention to the responses.

The more info you give, the more relevant the answers.
