Morning all. It’s been a long time since stripping my 1958 2 door but the fun part of rebuilding has started. A quick question please if somebody could help.
The distributor clamp has a slight ‘step’ in the plate so which way round to fit? Am I correct that the plate is flush where it bolts into the block and slight gap in the centre? Also is there meant to be a gasket under the plate?
Apologies if they’re obvious questions.
A quick pic of engine bay coming back together....

Re: Distributor Clamp
The raised center of the clamp should be upwards away from the distributer mount sleeve.
There is no gasket. Oil sealing relies on the fit of the parts. Later distributer mount sleeves had a neoprene 'O' ring around the outside of the distributer mount sleeve to stop any oil mist escaping past the distributer mount sleeve.

Re: Distributor Clamp
Looks a very nice job there. Are you doing it yourself?
Re: Distributor Clamp
Thanks...yes, trying to do it all myself (other than the respray). I expect I’ll be back for plenty of advice along the way!
