Good courier company for worldwide delivery

Post by Jefftav »

Hi All,

I recently used the following website to send parts to Australia. I am highlighting this company in case anyone else has need of this type of service and also because they were about £70 cheaper than any other carrier.

Hi Frank, Just make sure they weigh everything accurately as they charged us extra for additional weight charges and I had thought I had been quite accurate. The buyer also reported that the parcels were quite beat up so anything fragile make sure it is wrapped and marked fragile. Glad this is of use to you.

Dont wish to crititical but are you recommending a company that beats the parcels up.
Cheers

I was on the receiving end of the parcels Jeff refers to.

The parcels were very heavy--lot of cast iron in them--so if that is type of item(s) you are sending, quite a bit of protective padding around them is called for. Jeff used a lot of packing tape on the outside, preventing any contents from poking/falling out. In my case, several studs on a cylinder head were bent--no big deal.

The company mentioned, Transglobal Express, does seem to be significantly cheaper that the big name international carriers. Interestingly, that company allows the sender a choice among several carriers that they subcontract to--including big name ones. We selected D#L (deliberate typo) . We had door-to-door service.

The usual disclaimer applies as to any connection with the company, except for being a reasonably happy customer. I intend to use them again.

Anytime I sent out a cylinder head - I removed all the studs and sent them bundled up with the head!

Prices are good, from the carriers they quote I've had the best experiences with TNT.
DHL at least here apparently has an arrangement with customs to get their packages sorted out faster (about 1 day saved) but in exchange for this the import taxes with them tend to be much higher.

I sent an axle to Malta with transglobal...

The only problem is that they put you on an email mailing list and you get post and offers from them for a long time afterwards!
