Re: boot lid sound proofing.
there was a sound deadener on the minors it was like a thick tar paper that over the years lost its stick, on inside the doors and rear wings of two doors and inside boot. there is a modern version a bitumastic sheet that sticks on like s**t to a blanket some have a diamond pattern with a thin plastic cover that can be removed and a smooth one which would look better but be careful fitting it as it does stick well, oh and it helps if panel and pad are warm when fitting

If you are talking of JUDGED concours, it might be advisable to talk to one of the judges or swap this thread to the concours
section as they may have an opinion as to what is right and what is not!

Paulrh,I have the same car as you but a few weeks older & i am looking for the same thing, have a look under the back seat ,there is sound deadening stuff there,I believe its the same as that which is black on the surface with something like felt underneath. My boot has traces of this felt on it

I think that you will find that the stuff spread on the inside of the doors, boot lid and other areas of the car was used to stop the panel drumming and was not for sound deadening per say.
