To the German Owners - H-Zulassung

I need some support to get a "H-Zulassung" (Registration as Historical vehicle in Germany).

The car was converted from 2door to convertible. The registration certificate V5C shows "convertible" but the Geraman TÜV delivered a datasheet for a 2door and noticed that the conversion must be inspected.

The brake are disk brakes from a Morris Marina and the car has a brake servo (Lockheed).

The brake lines are copper or so (see thread "brake lines material?").

The valances of the bumpers are based on fibreglas.

The suspension is a modern solution with gas filled shock absorbers from a Karman Ghia.

The seat belts roll up automaticly.

Who has hints how to find the right answers for the TÜV?

You need to contact Declan Burns who I am sure will give you all the right answers. He is based in Germany.

Find one of his posts which are many and PM him. A very helpful guy with a Morris Minor and who also has a MG TD.

Phil

Declan is indeed the correct contact

a few thoughts about your problem

your car has a factory 2-door identification number, guess that is what they found out. The conversion was made in UK so it is shown as convertible in the V5 document. It was a period conversion in UK
as far as i know there are 3 strengthening panels each side to install
strengthening panels (Fits To "B" Pillar)
strengthening panels (Inner Sill)
strengthening panels (Fits Under Dash)
they should be installed an you should be able to show them

Marina disk brakes, not original but a period update included brake servo

fiberglas bumper valances, i am not sure if they like this

suspension
can not say anything to this, but could be a problem, depending on how it is done

seat belts should be no problem if properly attached

Or Nickol, he's a really nice chap and posts here regularly.

Pretty sure that he imported a Minor to Germany and knows how to sort out the administration issues.

I know Declan because we got in touch a lot with MG-TDs. As mentioned it depends on the TÜV employee.

Thanks for the hints. In the meantime I got some drawings out of a catalogue which shows that 2door and tourer are based on the same structure and also the parts for the convertible are shown.

Since yesterday the Minor is on the road.

There was a change by law in March. Not only TÜV in the west of Germay but also GTÜ and other may issue a full acceptance certificate. The inspector was so much impressed about the state of the car and no discussion had been started about those things I'd worried about. Everything that serves security was fine for him. The valances out of fiberglas couldn't be discussed because they have been absent.
