chassis Number

Post by RogerRust »

The lady who bought my traveller is having problems with the Dutch registration authority.

She cannot find the body number on the body I have told her its usually on the bulkhead below the voltage regulator or sometimes on the floor by the master cylinder.

Any other suggestions?

Nope. Different if it was a Series MM, but it's not :D

Perhaps there is paint covering the number?

Body Number? or Chassis Number?

Body number sould be on a small rivetted plate just below the seal lip on the passenger side. Chassis number on your trav should be a) VIN plate b) stamped into the bulkhead just below the fusebox or a relative position just under the lip at the top of the bulkhead. I have known them sometimes being stamped in the drivers footwell between the wheel arch and the accelerator peddle or on the tunnel just forward of the handbrake lever, just above the central x-member. They are often buried in paint so some care cleaning with a scotch pad should reveal the number. Just for information, she will only need the numbers for the Dutch DVLA, the prefix (IE MAS2D) is not required, just the 7 numbers.

How can there be a body number AND a chassis number.
You can't seperate the two, unless the reg number starts with IAN and costs £40,000.

Can she not just use the number from the British V5 document?

There is an arguement because the document says MAW5 and the plate says MAWS, but they want to see a number stamped on the body not just screwed on.

Buy a set of number punches? Onne will be able to advise, I think. Being obtuse, btw, in case I should be...

The document is right. The plate has either been replaced (and incorrectly stamped) or they're reading it wrong.

the number MAW5 is teh chassis number and not stamped anywhere else the body number is different stapped as said before. IT should be MAW5 not s. I had problems with this when we bought a car form England, had to export it to here, even though we're in the UK its cause the log books nover here go to Coleraine, and are stamped DVLNI. The chassis plate is Morris (M) A-series engine (A) traveller (W) and series 5 (5).

All Minors (I can only speak for LCVs) have a body number and a chassis number................that IAN at £40000 is a joke and it can not be transferred
