Re: How many Morris Minors are left ?.
It would worthwhile the MMOC spending the money for the DVLA to search their database to get a reasonably accurate number of Minors still in existance in order to look at the future direction of the Club of which I am a member and do attend local branch meetings
It may also help parts suppliers as well

Re: How many Morris Minors are left ?.
I seem to remember figures from the DVLA being analysed in a recent Minor Matters. I can't remeber which issue, but it wasn't long ago.
Figures were broken down into how many were still registered from each model and by year of manufacture.

Re: How many Morris Minors are left ?.
It was about a year ago- and the very earliest and very latest cars are the rarest. For example, the Snowberry white 4-door saloon I'm currently restoring may very well be the only 1970 Snowberry white 4-door left in existence!

Re: How many Morris Minors are left ?.
The article by Nigel Harrison was in the July/August 2010 issue, based on his analysis of DVLA data. Approx 27,000 Minors were recorded as either taxed or on sorn during the previous year. The breakdown by model is shown in this thread: http://www.mmoc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f= ... ilit=nigel
Obviously these numbers won't include Minors outside of the UK or those not included in the DVLA records.

16 months on from my original posting, and if ,the amount of vehicles being scrapped out on E bay ,is a typical percentage of cars being scrapped worlwide, should i be worried for our cars future ??. How many are left that are really still roadworthy,as apposed to just being stored to be sold as scrap or spares ?? [frame][/frame]

Re: How many Morris Minors are left ?.
Rather than go to 'how many are left' you can actually get the info direct from the DVLA Here: http://www2.dft.gov.uk/pgr/statistics/d ... licensing/
They have a lot of far more comprehensive options available

Our other car is a 2009 Citroen C6 3.0 HDi a 'future classic' and far rarer than a Morris Minor!!
The 'moggie' has been replaced with another 'classic' a 1953 Citroen Traction Avant 11BL

http://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/?q=Morris+Minor
If you click on the model, it gives you sorn information too. I am suprised though that theres only ~800 travs left.

Re: How many Morris Minors are left ?.
If you mean the article showing how many Minors were recorded by the DVLA as being taxed or on SORN it was the July /August 2010 issue (see page 3 of this thread).

Re: How many Morris Minors are left ?.
Bizarrely there are far more Minors left on the roads than there are my modern (Mk4 Escort Estate) despite the 18 year production gap.
It's a real joy to own a car thats well supported and I can actually get parts for again!
Minors will live forever, they're the perfect starter classic and everyone loves them. Like the Mini, they'll never be allowed to die off completely.

Re: How many Morris Minors are left ?.
You are right! We should all stop scrapping Minors or "breaking them for parts" and save every car that is viable. And these days with the amount of repair panels available, that should mean the vast majority are savable.Courthouse/Tom wrote:16 months on from my original posting, and if ,the amount of vehicles being scrapped out on E bay ,is a typical percentage of cars being scrapped worlwide, should i be worried for our cars future ??. I agree....chickenjohn wrote:

Consuming your own cars after production has ceased is really putting the future of the moggy on the road to nowhere. We must resist however tempted for that part!

Hi Moshe - you waited a long time before posting your first message
I'm not sure how many cars are registered with the Club but I'll make some enquiries to see if I can find out for you.
