You absolute star thank you so much and i really appreciate the time and effort you have taken to find this information.I guess i will have to contact DVLA to ask for owners name unless there is data protection. I am so happy with the head start knowing it is still roadworthy .

Tell them you have some paperwork to pass on ;) The may ask you to fill in a form (V888 I believe) and charge you a small admin fee (£5 I think?) for passing the information on.
