I have recently acquired a morris Traveller and want to change the rear axle oil. From what I have read the oil should be AP1 Gl-4 EP90. Is this correct, and can anyone recommend a preferred manufacturer ? Also I find it difficult to access the filler plug without jacking up the axle, is there no other way ? Finally does anyone know the whereabouts of my previous Smoke Grey Traveller from the early 1960's WUL 312 ? It doesn't come up on a DVLA search.
Thanks
Rear axle oil.

Re: Rear axle oil.
I know this is opening up an old thread but having ordered a new Pinion Oil seal and 2 litres of EP80w90 gear oil from Bull Mottif last year what did I discover they had supplied?
Fuchs Titan EP80w90 GL5
It has been well covered elsewhere but surely a Morris specialist should be supplying the recommended GL4 specification?

Re: Rear axle oil.
You are not 'required' to order parts from Morris 'specialists' - the seal and the correct oil could easily be sourced in Edinburgh! I certainly wouldn't pay to have heavy oil posted to me ! The seal is 88G320 and is 1.5 ID x 2.5 OD and 0.375 thick.

They were part of a larger order but a lesson has been learned although not sure where I would have found the seal locally. Would a normal motor factors have been able to supply?
Pentland Components and Pilrig Motors used to be handy when I stayed in Leith but not so handy these days. I guess the open all hours internet and home delivery makes things too easy.
