Could anyone shed any light on the white piping used on Series II front seats?

Was this used to denote leather seats or was it used on vinyl seats as well? Or was it something used for a particular year?

I've seen maroon leather seats with white piping but I've also seen blue/green leather seats with piping in the same colour.

Also, was white piping used on rear seats too? (And were they leather or vinyl?)

Theres not much in original morris minor about the white piping, but basically the later cars had white piping and the earlier had self coloured. Leather facings with vinyl sides and door trims. I would guestimate that the white piping came in around the same time as the central speedo updates.

1949-Early 1953 Had Maroon, Suede Green or Beige covers with contrasting piping. (Series MM)
1953-1959 Had Maroon, Suede Green or Dove Grey covers with matching piping. (Series II)
1956-1959 Had Maroon or Suede Green covers with Grey piping. (Series III)
1960-1962 Had Biscuit, Light Blue or Maroon covers with matching piping. (Series III)

I think '48 to some time in '51/'52(?) was the beige interior with colour coded piping. MMs after that had full colour interiors (introduced with colours like Clarendon grey and Empire green.)

That's correct. Even more pedantically, the 1st MMs had two extra bits of coloured piping between the horizontal flutes and the panel along the side of the seat facings, but this was deleted, some time late in 1950 (my guess from cars I've had), probably so occupants weren't sitting on two ridges of piping and they just had piping round the edge.
Back to the orig post, I've just acquired a '57 four door Minor 1000 which has the maroon interior with white piping and the curved back series 2 style seats - probably one of the nicest and most comfortable interiors produced in my opinion
