8608 RK Traveller

Hi

My mum (RIP) had a green 1962 Traveller, plate 8608 RK, which she sold in the 1970s sometime. I learned to drive in it - and I remember she also had the wood restored at some point.

The DVLA reckons it hasn't been taxed since 1995 - so it might be resting somewhere still. Anyone know of its whereabouts?

Thanks!

Five years on... a bump! I just discovered that the DVLA issued a V5C in 2012 - so she might still be out there.

yes, as the OP started with, but the Check Vehicle Details page says

Date of last V5C (logbook) issued
1 February 2012

So perhaps someone has it under restoration.

It is a possibility but a great many cars were issued with the new red fronted V5cs automatically in 2012. It doesn't mean a great deal......

I didn't realise that had happened. :-? Do you know what they did that?
But would they have done that for a vehicle that had been untaxed for many years, but not SORN'd?
I suppose anything is possible with DVLA....

As an aside, I looked up my old blue Vauxhall Viva that I brought new in 1977.
The Reg is still on the DVLA site, as a Red Vauxhall (rest of details match)
Last tax expired 27 April 1992
Last V5c issued 13 April 1992
So it probably changed ownership just before the tax expired and then never went on the road again....

So anything can happen I suppose....

The new red fronted V5c which most of us have now, was introduced in 2012. My cars were issued with new ones automatically during that year despite no changes in ownership etc. I don't know if this would have happened had the car(s) not been taxed though.

Off topic but thousands of blank v5 s were ' lost' by either DVLA or the printers ( I forget which) and therefore re issued with new design, V5C to render the old ones worthless.
