Original price of a MM1000 van or pickup with canvas

Post by air-drescher »

Hi guys,
my name is Carsten Drescher from Dortmund, Germany. I am a new member and I don´t own a Morris yet.
But I saw a MM Pickup with canvas cover these days and immediately fell in love.
I am planning to look for such a pickup or van as soon as I can afford it.
Living in Germany this might be a difficult task but I´ll manage that ;)
I ordered some books and repair manuals already to get familiar with these cars
and be aware of the main issues to check when buying.
But I have an additional questions I did´t find out yet:
What was the original price these days for new Vans or Pickups?
Does anyone know or is there any list? Was checking the web, even looking for adverts
but only prices I found were the ones for saloons or travelers...
I will check this forum frequently for my researches and definitely will ask your ears off once I have bought one ;)
greetings from Germany!
Carsten

Hi Andy,
thanks a lot, that´s great.
The reason for this is, that I am planning to make this my company´s car
and in Germany one has to pay a tax based on the original selling price when you use the car for private reasons as well.
But the tax is calculated with these old prices based on today´s exchange rates,
not caring for any inflation or rate changes during the decades.
This makes such a car very cheap in taxes for additional private use.
best

Not 1971 though, 1966/7 ex-GPO Engineers van.
Further investigations uncovered it was an inside job!!

Prob 1965, 2xrear tow/bkts,speedo colour...washer jets, doors (no sign of vin plate)....bottom of B posts are flush too...have requested cab number....

No-one reads my posts anyway, may as well ask why Sugar Puffs have been renamed Honey Monster Puffs - I blame the EU and Jeremy "Cold Baked Bean" Corbyn!!

Owner has replied attaching pic of chassis plate - late 1964!! So error in advert and NOT a duff!!
