Engine number 10V/189E/H24621

Post by GeordieDave »

My Dad has this engine amongst his stock of spares. We have no information about it's history - can anyone help?

12/69 Saloon - on an "H" plate - does this make sense?
Further investigations uncovered it was an inside job!!

Thanks for the info - that's more than we knew. My Dad thought the 10V meant it was for a van? Someone was throwing it out and my Dad asked if he could have it but didn't think to ask what condition it was in. It has the closed circuit breather and we think it is a 1098, but we had no idea of it's age.

It is a 1098 and not necessarily from a van.

Indeed. My 1970 Traveller was originally fitted with a 10V189EH... 1098cc engine.

Incidentally, the 'H' stands for High compression; most vans were fitted with low compression 'L'-suffix ones.
