LOST 1963 MORRIS TRAVELLER

Post by symarshall86 »

Please can anyone help?

I am trying to track down my mum's first car a Morris Minor 1963 reg number 960 ECR. It's a Blue Traveller and would love to buy it back if I could or just have details of who has it so in the future I could purchase this.

Anyone know of this car??

Thanks
Simon

According to DVLA it has not been taxed since 1st Feb 1982, so unfortunately might have been scrapped.
Some do escape, being stored in barns, garages, etc. but it does not look too hopeful after 34 years.

If you fill in a form you can ask the DVLA the current owner and maybe they have it stuck in a garage, it may also tell you if it has been registered as scrap, it costs about £2

Surely if it has been registered as scrapped there would be no reference to it on the DVLA database?

Also, I can't imagine DVLA would give you the details of the registered keeper - data protection and all that.......

If you fill in the V888 for (see link) they can tell you details, from what i can see it costs £2.50 or £5.00 and if you see question 1 option B, it looks like you can ask about a specific vehicle that was owned by you. and maybe yes they wont have any info if it has been sent to scrap but for the price it may save alot of leg work.

Or the reg has been sold and the vehicle re-registered. I which case it will be hard to find

But if DVLA records show it as untaxed from 1982 one can presume it is still on the car, otherwise their records would show it either on retention ( if in fact numbers on retention show up on number searches), or if it had been transferred, the details of the current vehicle would be shown. Time to ring national numbers! (although OP hasn't visited forum since posting request :(

It would appear that numbers held on retention do not show up on vehicle searches; for example on the TFL site are listed as 'no vehicle details were found'

What I meant in my previous post was the car will have a different reg now so hard to find without knowing the current reg

If the number has been put on retention then yes, it would be all but impossible to trace the actual vehicle, but as I said, the DVLA database still shows it on a Morris Minor.
Only a call to National Numbers will solve the mystery :D

Hi, by chance I came across your post from last year. Some good news, I am the current owner of this vehicle, Morris Minor Traveller (960 ECR), the car is still in excellent condition having had only two owners from new (including your mother, Mrs Angela Langley who sold the vehicle on 14/02/2012).
Please feel free to contact me should you still be interested, the car is currently advertised and available for sale.
My Mobile no. Is 07834 090844, or you can e mail me on Richard.lawrence@tiscali.co.uk
Happy to send you some pictures on request.

Cracking result, it would be a great thing to get back a family car after many years, I would love my mom and dads old van but it sadly ended up in a scrap yard.
